Top 10 Books I Would Love to See As A Movie/TV Show

Top Ten Books I Would Love To See As A Movie/TV Show
(Set in a perfect world in which movies don't butcher the books we love)
(Feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish)

Do you ever feel like the only movies/tv shows coming out are based on teen books?  It's rather unfortunate.  Some stories just aren't suited outside of the imagination of the reader's brain.  But in a perfect world...where book adaptations didn't stink...well maybe there are a few I would enjoy being brought to life.

1) Shadowfell by Juliet Marillier (movie)
A little selfish here...I really just want to see Flint brought to life.

 2) Heist Society by Ally Carter (TV show)
The antics of this rather clever crew would make a great serial story line.

 3) Just One Day by Gayle Forman (movie)
Sigh.  Yes, please.

4) My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick (movie)
Only with the perfect Jase...I mean, perfect.

 5) Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger (TV show)
There's not enough steampunk in the world.

 6) Entwined by Heather Dixon (movie)
Something whimsical and dark.

 7) The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making
by Catherynne M. Valente (movie)
With a Alice in Wonderland flare.

8) The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (movie)
Please don't let them ruin this fantastic story!

 9) Moon Over Manifest by Clare Vanderpool (movie)
The next Stand By Me.

10)  Paranormalcy by Kiersten White (TV show)
The next Vampire Diaries.

What's on your list?  Happy reading!

  1. Oh my, so many books to add to my TBR from your list! I've read Paranormalcy and The Night Circus, and I totally agree that they'd be great on screen!

  3. I should have added My Life Next Door as well! The only way I would include it on my list is because the stipulation was that our books would be made in a perfect world and turn out perfectly. Thus, the perfect Jase would totally be picked!!

  4. I put The Night Circus on my list. I recently read it, and fell in love and wanted so badly to see it on screen. I agree with you though, it has to be done in a way not to mess with the story.

  5. Part of me wants a Night Circus Movie, and part of me wants to lock it in a vault so no one can corrupt it with terrible dialogue and acting. I have a hard time believing anyone could represent it visually as well as the author did in writing, and if they destroy it I will lose my mind.

    1. Many have said they would like to see Tim Burton direct. I would have to disagree. I love his wacky weirdness...but not for this particular story. Thoughts??

    2. I don't think Burton really adapts things, he makes everything his own. I think he would make a great movie, but it wouldn't be the same story.

  6. I love that Juliet Marillier made it onto your list! I picked The Bridei Chronicles for mine (I think, unless that was one of the 15 I had to cut because my list was beyond crazy long haha). But I love seeing Juliet Marillier mentioned on blogs because it so rarely happens and her series are all fantastic! I've gotten behind though...I've not read not Shadowfell yet!
